Great Staging Helps Potential Buyers Feel at Home

18 May
May 18, 2012

This darling home at 4430 Southcrest in Preston Hollow is full of exceptional details. Jeannie Nethery of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty, who recently sold the home, said, “This home already had so much going for it— it has a lovely pool and landscaping, a great floor plan for a family, and two downstairs bedrooms, which is hard to find these days. Plus, it’s in a quiet and reserved part of the neighborhood on a private cul-de-sac.”

But the key to the sale, Jeannie said, was great home staging. “The home looked fabulous, but the decor was very personalized to the owners’ tastes. They allowed me to have some of the key rooms repainted in a more neutral color and to have someone come in and stage the home. Once we did this, the home sold right away!”

May 17, 2012

Right now, honoring our nation’s heros can be as easy as the click of a mouse.

Honor Flight DFW has been given a wonderful opportunity to earn funds toward our mission of getting veterans to D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor.  The great news is that it can be done from your Facebook!

Taste of Dallas, the premier tasting event in North Texas, is generously donating $1 toward the goal for every new “like” on the Taste of Dallas Facebook page today through Sunday, May 20, at midnight.

What this means is that we have ONE WEEKEND to make a big difference.  To help, login to Facebook and go to facebook.com/tasteofdallas.org and hit “Like.”

The Stonebriar Country Club is host to one of Dallas’ best golfing experiences.

With the Crowne Plaza Invitational starting next week at The Colonial Country Club, have you been in the mood to practice your drive?

Other than The Colonial itself, here are a few of the best courses in DFW according to the Dallas Business Journal:

TPC Craig Ranch led the way in the listing of the Top 25 Toughest North Texas Golf courses with a slope rating of 142.

There were five that tied for the runner-up position at 140, but ties were broken using the course length of the regular’s men’s tees. Stonebriar Country Club (Country Club course) placed second.  Read more →

Several condominium options, with designer details and resort-like amenities, are available at The Sorrento, located at 8616 Turtle Creek in Dallas.

Recent figures show that rising rents, historically low interest rates and high levels of inventory mean that this may be the best time in years to invest in real estate.

And one of the biggest groups looking to put their money into property is the market-savvy parents of college students and young professionals. After crunching the numbers, many parents are finding that now is the time to purchase real estate as a means of investing in their children’s futures.

“Our daughter was living in an area that we thought was less than ideal. Meanwhile we were looking for investment opportunities outside what we were finding on Wall Street. By purchasing at The Sorrento we were able to make a solid investment that, most importantly, gave us a great deal of peace of mind about our daughter’s living arrangements. It was a win-win situation for everyone,” Read more →

This charming home at 3217 Princeton Avenue in Highland Park makes a friendly and welcoming first impression with lush greenery and a well-kept lawn.

From Zillow: Whether you’re prepping your home for sale, or just want it to look good, don’t forget about the exterior — especially the front yard and door! Here are some great tips from home stagers and curb appeal experts on how to best showcase your home’s first impression.

Walk to the curb

The first order of business: Walk to the curb or street and look at your home from the road.

This will probably be the buyers’ or the buyer agent’s first, real-live impression of your house. Take the time to review the way your front yard looks. Does the front door look fresh and inviting? Is the landing or porch neat and tidy? These are the details that can make a huge difference for that ever-important first impression.  Read more →

It used to be that vacation home buyers were snapping up homes on either side of our nation’s coastline, but now they’re looking for something closer to home— within about a 4 hour drive, actually. Thanks to the grand size and variety of climes in our great state of Texas, that means locals in Dallas-Fort Worth have plenty to choose from!

From Second Shelters: Today’s vacation home buyer is older, though affluent families are still buying, wanting a wholesome getaway for the kids). They want to be closer to home and spend less, get less glitz. They also want to buy a home that could convert to a retirement home…  Read more →
